Would you rather your taxes go to the state of Georgia or provide youth aging out of foster care with tangible support, a sense of belonging and lifelong connection?
Thanks to the Fostering Success Tax Credit, also known as the Qualified Foster Child Donation Credit, your tax dollars can now bring new hope for older youth in foster care.
As a taxpayer of the state of Georgia, you can redirect your taxes to Brightside Child & Family Advocacy to help youth transitioning out of the foster care system.
When you participate, you receive a 100% tax credit to your state income tax bill for your donation.
It’s Easy to Apply:
1. Apply Online
- Log in or create an account at the Georgia Tax Center website.
- Follow these detailed instructions to download the Qualified Foster Child Donations Credit Preapproval Instructions.
- Select Brightside Child & Family Advocacy as the Qualified Foster Child Support Organization (QFCSO) and complete the application.
- Once notified of approval, you will have 60 days to make your donation directly to Brightside Advocacy.
- Checks made payable to Brightside Advocacy: 761 Wheaton Street, 5th Floor, Savannah, GA 31401
- Online donations can be made here.
- Brightside Advocacy will mail you an acknowledgement letter and a Qualified Foster Child Donation Credit Letter of Confirmation form (Georgia Form IT-QFCD-FUND1) once your donation has been processed.
Tax Credit Limits*:
Previous contribution limits were removed on July 1, 2024. Capped at $20 million, the tax credit has no current limit on donations for Georgia taxpayers. That means single taxpayers, married couples or businesses can allocate their entire state tax obligation to this tax credit program.
