PARTNERS IN GOOD
Savannah Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect. We are so thankful to be apart a community filled with caring groups that also work hard to protect the welfare of others.
In Chatham County, there are currently more than 400 children in foster care. Between October 2018 to September 2019, 179 children entered foster care - a rate of approximately 14 children per month. Due to the limited number of foster homes, the children are often placed in homes across the state - away from their friends, school, church, and family members. The child welfare system is overburdened and underfunded, often caseworkers are managing upwards of 3x the recommended caseload. This combined with the distance of foster placements makes it difficult to ensure that the children’s needs are being met.
It is our goal to align our mission with the work of faith-based communities in the Savannah area in hopes to make the future brighter for the children that we serve. We would love to partner with you and your organization to raise awareness for the needs of children in foster care. Currently, we serve 89% of the children in foster care within Chatham County. With the help of your church we could successfully reach 100% soon. Join us today and help Change A Child's Story!
